Default Cookie question--non-edible type.

Tracking cookies. I read somewhere than one should delete tracking cookies when searching travel sites so that if one is searching packages and then pricing components separately, one won't be automatically directed to previous results, but the search will be treated as brand new. OK, I know how, but which ones?

Actually, what I want to ask is, for MiGC, which ones should I leave alone so I don't have to log in each time? Can someone tell me the name(s) or urls so I can keep them in my history? Thanks.

When I delete my cookies I just get rid of them all. I'm not going through the whole list. Keep a list of your login info/passwords under your keyboard or somewhere safe so you can remember them. It only takes a second to login.

Cookies for this site are automatically cleared when you log off. If that's what you're looking for.

No, sweatpea, I was looking for the name(s) of the cookies so I could exclude them from an auto clear. Yeah, I'm lazy enough not to want to log in here every time. This is a site I look in on frequently enough not to want to log in every time. Other sites are less frequent and I can log in every time.

Often enough, without wanting to give anything away.

I want to clear the cookies when I'm searching travel sites so that I can compare different packages and ways of putting together a package. If the cookies aren't cleared each time, I get the same results. If the cookies are cleared, I'm treated as a brand-new customer each time.

However, I don't want to lose certain cookies, which is why I asked in the first place. I guess I'm not making sense. Never mind.

You're making sense, WD. I know what you're talking about. I've just never scrolled thru my cookies to see what each was. Next time I clear my cookies I'll check it out.

Default Would you like a cookie? Permanent or Temporary

Would be dependent on the type of cookies a site uses - temporary or permanent.

The info a temporary cookie records on a visit is lost when a visitor closes a browser.

Sites that use a permanent cookie will retain visitor information even after a visitor closes the browser. Such sites tag information every time the visitor signs on or visits

If a site uses permanent cookies it's doubtful is a visitor to that site can choose to delete certain portions on the cookie while retaining others. There is a way to disable permanent cookies but then one would be back to a temporary cookie situation.

Default Cookies . . . .

There is nothing more temporary around our house than Oreo's and chocolate chips.
